About Us

Our Story

God birthed Church Alive in the middle 1990s in the hearts of two visionary pastors—Gene and Anne Amason. God showed them a multi-cultural people from varying kinds of economic and ethnic backgrounds gathering together to enthusiastically and passionately worship Him, have whole and healthy relationships within the church and the community, and reach out to the world with the good news of Jesus Christ. Today, that vision has become a reality.

Church Alive overflows with singles, families, children, teens and seniors: people of all ages and backgrounds sharing life with one another, solving problems, healing relationships, experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit and learning the Word of God. We meet together multiple times every week to study the Word, pray, worship, and fellowship together. But it doesn’t end there.

Church Alive is reaching out with God’s love to Magee, Pearl, and beyond.  Our most recent campus in Rankin County is allowing us to offer ministry to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of an even wider community. We are impacting the lives of people, our communities and nations with the Love of God and the transforming truths of Scripture. We witness with our words and actions first of all at home and then globally to see lives changed and prospered by Jesus Christ.

We invite you to come and experience God’s presence and loving people at Church Alive - in both Simpson and Rankin counties. You will be accepted, welcomed and loved by a people who love God, others and one another. We trust you’ll find that at our core it’s very simple: we’re about loving and following Jesus.

Our Mission & Purpose

Our Mission:

I. Teaching the Word
From the pulpit and throughout all our ministries, our purpose is to teach the Word of God as it is written. We commit to proclaiming the uncompromising, balanced, no nonsense Word of God.

II. Restoring Family
As a church, we will promote God's purpose in restoring families back to their rightful place through training in the areas of marriage, parenting and the unique issues facing broken and blended families.

III. Bridging the Generational Gap
We desire to see those both young and old working together to spread the love of Jesus. We realize that every generation offers something different to the Kingdom and our desire is to see them grow, worship and work together.

IV. Transforming Our Community
We have a fervency to minister and be a shining light in our community, to our city leaders, and those who protect us from harm and danger. By partnering with area churches, we desire to collectively take the love of Jesus to our communities and cities.

V. Unifying Cultures
We are a diverse church that desires to unify all races and cultures in our local area and around the world. We have a passion to see all people worshipping, developing, and growing together in the power of the Spirit.

VI. Impacting Nations
We are a church that strategically connects with others outside our walls in proclaiming the gospel around the world. We desire to send members from our church body to minister, assist, and partner with missionaries around the world.

Our Purpose:

Worship – In the power of the Holy Spirit, we worship the living God giving honor and glory to Jesus Christ, His only Son.

Word – We preach, teach and obey the Scriptures, God’s written Word, lifting up the Bible as the true and infallible revelation of God to us.

Witness – We share the Living Word, Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, with all people witnessing to the risen Christ in our lives at church, home, work and recreation throughout our culture and around the world.

Work – We work together in covenant community giving of ourselves and our resources to equip the saints, serve and love God, others and one another. We work to create wealth to advance the kingdom wherever God calls us. We also work with joy creating mutual support, teambuilding, fun, rest and recreation.

Church Alive is Worship…Word…Witness…Working Together to Serve and Love God, Others and One Another.

Our Beliefs & Values

Our Beliefs:
These Articles of Faith constitute the doctrinal positions of Church Alive on a wide range of biblical subjects. They are not “Scripture,” but rather our attempt to express our understanding of Scripture. Their purpose is to promote a general “unity of faith” among the believers. At all times, the Bible remains the final arbiter of Truth.

I. We believe in one God revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

II. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, powerful miracles, the sacrifice of His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, ascension, and future return to earth as both Lord and King.

III. We believe in the absolute inspiration of Holy Scripture.

IV. We believe in faith and obedience to God's Word, which by the power of the Holy Spirit develops a victorious and overcoming life.

V. We believe that justification and sanctification are by grace through faith in our Lord's sacrificial death on the cross.

VI. We believe in partaking of the body and blood of Jesus through Holy Communion/The Lord’s Supper. Communion represents the broken body of Christ for our healing and the giving of His blood for the salvation of mankind.

VII. We believe that every convert is to be water baptized. This "burial with Christ" accomplishes "circumcision of the heart."

VIII. We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is an endowment of power available to every Christian subsequent to conversion; however scripture does not dictate that it is a requirement for salvation.

IX. We believe that the church is God's highest institution on the earth. The message and mission of the church is the "gospel of the Kingdom", which simply means the rule of God.

X. We believe in the literal second coming of our Lord, His literal rule upon the earth, the rapture of the church, the resurrection of the saved unto eternal life and the unsaved to eternal damnation, and the ultimate victory of the eternal kingdom of God.

XI. We believe the sanctity of marriage is between one man and one woman.

XII. We are pro-life and believe in the sanctity of human life in the womb.

Our Core Values:
As a body, we hold certain biblical values in high regard. The vision is built upon and built with these values. Without these values, the vision would be lifeless and the result would be institutionalism. These values breathe life into the vision and sustain the quality of the vision.

We Value a Biblical Mindset:
We believe that the Bible is God's inspired Word, the authoritative and trustworthy rule of faith and practice for all Christians.
-II Timothy 3:16-17

We Value God's Living Presence in Our Worship & Lives:
To enjoy God's felt-realized presence is our passion as a church family. We believe God’s is imparted to God's people as they yield to Holy Spirit.
-Acts 2:1-4

We Value Holy Spirit Activity:
Both in our personal and corporate lives as believers, we welcome the moving of the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are part of our basic believe system.
-Acts 11:16; I Corinthians 12:1-11

We Value Dynamic, Spontaneous Praise and Worship:
As believers respond, God's presence may be seen in the energetic worship with clapping, lifting hands and singing spontaneous unrehearsed praise unto the Lord.
-Psalm 47:1; Psalm 63:3-4; I Timothy 2:8

We Value the Holiness of God:
Holiness is not legalism that is measured by an outward look, but a true cleansing of the believer by the power of the Holy Spirit that is evidenced in Christian character and conduct.
-II Corinthians 7:1

We Value Excellence:
We believe God deserves the best we have to offer; therefore, we seek to maintain a high quality of excellence in everything connected to the work of the Lord.
-Ecclesiastes 9:10

We Value Relationships:
To love one another regardless of color or race is our goal and we endeavor to make this practical where every believer is encouraged to develop deeper relationships with other believers that result in encouragement and accountability.
-I John 4:7-8

We Value Integrity:
There is no substitute for a lack in character. We hold this value in highest esteem and filter all other values through this one. Uprightness, trustworthiness and transparency are our best foundational stones.
-Psalm 26:11

We Value Financial Stewardship and Responsibility
Scripture teaches us to be givers and not takers; to budget and be faithful stewards with a little so that God can trust us with greater wealth; to create wealth to advance His Kingdom investing in work and business to impact our culture and to become generous and cheerful givers.
-Luke 16; 2 Corinthians 9; Deuteronomy 8:18.
