In the mid 1990’s, Gene and Anne Amason were called to start Church Alive. It was started to meet real needs right in Magee that weren’t being met at the time. They envisioned a church that welcomed all people — regardless of what they looked like, where they came from, or what kind of work they did. They envisioned a church where people would be taught strong truth from the Word of God and have true freedom in their worship. They envisioned a church that functioned as a healthy reflection of Christ, growing in maturity and the gifts of the Spirit. They envisioned a place filled with people who weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty loving and serving the community, a place where people didn’t just go to church but where they would truly be the Church.

Today, this is no longer just a vision. Church Alive is not a place full of perfect people but it is a place full of real people with real struggles who are learning to experience real joy in their lives. We meet together multiple times every week to study the Word, pray, worship, and fellowship together. But it doesn’t end there.

Church Alive is a mission-focused church that has been called specifically to minister to Magee, offering ministry to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of our community. We believe that churches are called not only to touch the lives of the people who attend their services but also to make a real impact in their entire community. Many churches overlook their local communities while crossing oceans to meet the needs of people in other countries. God has convicted us about this and called us to be ministers to our community. As a result, every year we commit the majority of our focus and resources to establishing the Kingdom of God right here.

We invite you to come and experience what is happening at Church Alive. Please take a look around to get a better idea of what we are about.

We trust you’ll find that at our core it’s very simple: we’re about loving and following Jesus.
