Our Story

How we started

God birthed Church Alive in the mid-1990s in the hearts of two visionary pastors – Gene and Anne Amason. God showed them a group of multi-cultural people from various economic and ethnic backgrounds gathering together in Magee, Mississippi to enthusiastically and passionately worship Him.

They also had a vision for whole and healthy relationships within the church and community, as well as reaching out to the world with the good news of Jesus Christ. Today, that vision is becoming a reality.

Church Alive is alive and overflowing with children, teens, singles and families – people of all ages and backgrounds sharing life with one another, solving problems, healing relationships, experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit, and learning the Word of God.

Today, Church Alive is reaching out by extending our borders, seeking to meet the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of those in our area and beyond. Our vision is to impact the lives of individuals, communities, and other nations through the love of God and the transforming truth of Scripture. Church Alive witnesses by words and actions – first, at home, and then globally – working to see lives changed and transformed by Jesus Christ.

In December 2014, twenty years after Pastors Gene and Anne founded Church Alive, Gene Amason II and his wife, Regina, were set in as Senior Pastors. Pastors Gene and Regina are on a mission to continue the legacy his father created, by leading a church for all people. He believes churches should represent what Heaven will look like, so it’s a priority for Church Alive to be a multi-cultural and multi-generational congregation, where everyone has a place. He and Regina have a heart to see people’s lives transformed through the power of Jesus Christ!
