Our Beliefs

What We Believe

These Articles of Faith reflect what we at Church Alive believe the Bible teaches on key spiritual truths. While they are not the Bible itself, they represent our best effort to clearly communicate our understanding of Scripture. Their purpose is to help cultivate unity and shared conviction among our community of believers. Above all, we hold the Bible as the ultimate and final authority in all matters of truth and doctrine.

God

We believe in one God, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God is one, yet He reveals Himself in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” – Matthew 28:19

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.” – 2 Corinthians 13:14

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!” – Deuteronomy 6:4

Jesus

We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus, His sinless life, His miracles, His sacrificial death, His physical resurrection, His ascension to heaven, and His future return as Lord and King.

Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, performed miracles, died for our sins, rose again, returned to heaven, and will one day come back to rule and reign.

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” – Isaiah 7:14

“But he said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.’” – Mark 16:6

“Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:17

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit lives within every believer, giving us the power to live a godly life. We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate and available experience for every Christian after salvation. We also believe the gifts of the Spirit are still active today, and that the baptism in the Holy Spirit helps us live holy lives and boldly share God’s saving grace with others.

This is a separate and available experience for every Christian after salvation. We also believe the gifts of the Spirit are still active today, and that the baptism in the Holy Spirit helps us live holy lives and boldly share God’s saving grace with others.

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” – Acts 1:8

“Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” – Acts 2:3–4

“And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.” – Acts 19:6

The Bible

We believe the Bible is fully inspired by God.

Every word of Scripture is God-breathed and is our ultimate guide for truth, correction, and living right.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16

“For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” – 2 Peter 1:21

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105

Salvation Through Grace

We believe we are saved and made holy by God’s grace through faith in Jesus and His death on the cross.

We are forgiven and made right with God—not by our own efforts, but through trusting in Jesus’ sacrifice.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” – Ephesians 2:8

“And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” – 2 Corinthians 6:11

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Romans 5:1

Water Baptism

We believe that every believer should be baptized in water by immersion.

After choosing to follow Jesus, baptism is the next step—a public declaration of your faith and new life.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” – Matthew 28:19

“It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove.” – Mark 1:9–10

“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” – Acts 2:38

Communion

We believe in taking Communion (The Lord’s Supper).

Communion is a way we remember what Jesus did for us—His body broken for our healing and His blood shed for our salvation.

“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.’ For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” – 1 Corinthians 11:23–26

“And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.’” – Luke 22:19–20

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5

The Second Coming

We believe in the literal return of Jesus, the resurrection of believers to eternal life, and the judgment of the lost to eternal separation from God.

Jesus is coming back. Those who follow Him will be raised to eternal life. Those who reject Him will face eternal separation.

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17

“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” – Revelation 21:8

“Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.” – John 5:28–29

The Church

We believe the Church is the governing body of God’s Kingdom on earth, established by Jesus to carry out His mission. It is the place where every believer is called to grow, serve, and step fully into their God-given purpose in Christ.

The Church represents the authority of God’s Kingdom on earth and exists to help believers grow spiritually and fulfill their calling in Christ.

“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” – Matthew 16:18–19

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” – Ephesians 4:11–13

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:20

Biblical Marriage

We believe marriage is designed by God to be between one man and one woman.

God established marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” – Genesis 2:24

“And He answered and said to them, ‘Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh”? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.’” – Matthew 19:4–6

“‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.” – Ephesians 5:31–33

The Sanctity of Life

We believe in the sanctity of life and are pro-life.

Every life is sacred and created by God with purpose and value—from the womb to the grave.

“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it…’” – Genesis 1:28

“You shall not murder.” – Exodus 20:13

“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” – Psalm 139:13–14
